Our FREC Courses:
- FREC 3 (First Response Emergency Care): This Level 3 qualification is the perfect starting point for those interested in a career in pre-hospital care. It provides you with the essential skills to manage a wide range of medical emergencies. Learn skills like wound packing to stem catastrophic bleeds, airway management to support those that are in respiratory arrest, the medical application of oxygen, and how to perform a proper patient assessment including handing over to ambulance responders to ensure the best survivability and ongoing medical care for the patient. This course is popular with those who are likely to encounter people in episodes of acute sickness or trauma and offers a great degree of knowledge that can be applied to truly save lives going well beyond a standard first aid course.
- FREC 4 (First Response Emergency Care): Building upon the FREC 3 qualification, the FREC 4 course provides advanced knowledge and skills, equipping you to deal with more complex medical situations. This Level 4 qualification is highly regarded in the industry and focuses on shaping individuals so that can be much more effective in ‘assisting’ the clinician with teaching involving obtaining ECGs, identifying shockable rhythms and advanced airway skills such as the use of iGels and bag valve masks (BVMs) to essentially ventilate a patient that cannot breathe unassisted. The FREC4 usually allows individuals to operate at the clinical level of ‘Emergency Care Assistant’, but the course is rapidly gaining traction in other sectors such as offshore environments and the private security industry with the bulk of Close Protection providers now mandating that officers hold this qualification.
Benefits of FREC Training with Medirek:
- Nationally Recognised Qualifications: Our FREC 3 and FREC 4 qualifications are nationally recognised, and regulated. This will give you a competitive edge in the job market, being able to demonstrate your medical competency with ease and opening many doors in the way of jobs such as in the healthcare, security and offshore sectors for instance.
- Enhanced Employability: These qualifications are highly valued by ambulance services, event medical providers, and other organisations within the pre-hospital, healthcare and security sectors. For instance, the FREC 3 course meets the first aid requirements for an SIA license whilst offering much more effective and contextualised skills, many wanting to work within the close protection space state they see increased opportunities for work by holding a FREC 4
- Career Opportunities: FREC training opens doors to a variety of career paths, including emergency care assistant (ECA), ambulance care assistant (PTS), and a variety of event medical roles. Many continue on the FREC pathway and become Ambulance Technicians, or use the invaluable knowledge to then undertake apprenticeships to become registered paramedics.
- Personal Development: Gain valuable life skills and the confidence to respond effectively in emergency situations.
