FREC courses in Surrey, Sussex, Hampshire and London

Pre-Hospital Medical Training (FREC)

The Medirek Academy offers a range of Pre-Hospital Medical training courses which allow individuals to truly step beyond the role of a ‘first aider’ and start their journey into the world of proper ‘pre hospital’ and ambulance care. We offer these FREC courses at our operational base in Redhill, Surrey, as well as nationally where we can locate suitable venues.

The FREC ‘suite’ of pre-hospital care qualifications are provided and regulated by Qualsafe and are an industry leading and highly recognised group of courses that are accepted by a wide range of employers in the ambulance/medical, safety and security worlds.

Offering immersive and detailed scenario based and classroom training, the FREC qualifications offer unparalleled insight into the world of emergency care and equips learners with a range of advanced skills that they can use to treat patients such as oxygen therapy, airway management and the management of catastrophic and traumatic injury.

Starting from the ground level, the ‘FREC 3’ (First Response Emergency Care) teaches a range of emergency skills such as the administration of emergency oxygen, management of trauma patients, major illnesses and much more, and allows candidates to operate at the level of ‘first responder’. This course is popular with those likely to respond to more complex medical incidents such as those working at events or at large public venues, security guards, police officers, fire fighters and much more. The FREC 3 moves learners beyond the level of rendering simple ‘first aid’ and allows them to provide often comprehensive care aimed at achieving the best outcome for the patient.

Following completion of the FREC 3 course, many choose to then progress onto the FREC 4 and FREUC5 courses that are level with the skillsets of an Emergency Care Assistant and Ambulance Technician respectively. These courses, tied to a stringent CPD framework build on those already learnt skills to give learners even more advanced skillset such as the application of advanced airway adjuncts, the administration of analgesic gases, undertaking ECGs and assessing/diagnosing more complex illness/injury so that candidates are equipped and capable of treating a wider range of patients and operating at higher levels of clinical responsibility.

Many of our learners choose to undertake work with us by helping to provide medical cover to our range of clients, but all learners benefit from ongoing support and guidance should it be necessary, ensuring that they truly get the best out of their new qualifications!

Take a look at ‘Pre-Hospital Training‘ page for more information and enquire about joining one of our courses today!

Paediatric First Aid Training

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Statutory Framework requires all early years providers in England to have at least one person who has a current and full paediatric first aid certificate on the premises and available at all times when children are present.

The Medirek Academy can help you meet this requirement by providing high quality paediatric first aid training to your staff, and at your premises. We understand that time for training is often finite and in high demand, and so we can work you and your organisation to provide training at a variety of times including in evenings, weekends or on ‘inset days’ if necessary.

This is a Qualsafe regulated course, ensuring that you receive a high quality course set to national standards which is recognised by a number of bodies as a HSE (Health and Safety Executive) compliant first aid course, and is recognised by the Department for Education (DfE) as a compliant course. However, this doesn’t stop us tailoring this first aid training offering and we can work with you to ensure that scenarios and training is focused on areas that are relevant to you and your workplace, and the needs of the children you are likely to interact with.

Our training and development team can work with your staff to establish the training need in your organisation and then develop and deliver training bespoke to your needs, including all relevant documentation, manuals and ongoing support should any questions arise later on down the line or your training needs change! We can also provide additional, complementary training such as safeguarding and mental health first aid if this is something you require.

We ensure that all of our paediatric first aid courses are delivered with the latest training aids and in line with all the latest, approved guidance to ensure that you and your candidates receive the most value out of their training, but that, importantly, your staff are equipped to protect and save lives in the event of an incident should it arise.

Our training team delivers courses to a wide range of clients from office workers through to school teachers, those working in industrial settings and even aviation! In all circumstances, we ensure that the learning delivered is relevant and that scenarios undertaken are bespoke and relevant to your area of operation. Not only to ensure that the training is effective, but also to show candidates the relevance of their newly learnt skillset.

Aviation Medical and first aid training in Surrey (AVMed)

Aviation Medical Training (AvMed)

There is an annual requirement for those who make up part of a flight crew to undertake initial and then recurrent training in the field of first aid. In fact the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) make requirement that aircraft should carry suitable first aid equipment and that staff should be competent in the use of this equipment.

The Medirek Academy, in conjunction with Helipad has developed and offers a range of aviation orientated training, including comprehensive Aviation Medical (AvMed) training that is suitable for delivery to commercial pilots and flight crew either at your crew base, or at our premises in Redhill, Surrey. This training meets EASA EU-OPS Implementing rules Subpart N regulations.

Unlike other providers, we use the Qualsafe Level 3 Emergency First Aid at Work qualification as a base and then contextualise this training to make the teaching relevant to the aviation environment, including conditions such as hypoxia, acute sickness and even skills such as airway management and use of tourniquets and how to manage these patients until landing can be achieved and further assistance can be sought for the patient. However, by using the Qualsafe EFAW qualification as a base, we are able to issue your staff with a widely recognised certification in first aid which carries outside regulation and will stand-up to scrutiny.

Our training and development team can work with your staff to establish the training need with your team and this training can be delivered in conjunction with Crew Resource Management or Flight Crew Fire training if there is the need. Furthermore, if you have specialist requirements, we can further tailor the training to meet this need, drawing on the vast experience of our training team consisting of a variety of staff including paramedics, ambulance technicians and more!

Our training is truly bespoke, and delivered by medical professionals. Allowing you access to a vast array of experience and ongoing support for any sort of medical query or identified training need.
